Ibrahim Alturki- President

Ibrahim Alturki is a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge focusing on international commercial arbitration and finance.

Prior to his teaching experience, Ibrahim received a Bachelor degree (Hons) in Islamic Law from Qassim University and an LL.M. (Dist. and Dean’s list) from Georgetown University in International Business and Economic Law with a Certificate in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution. During his LL.M., he served as a board member of the Georgetown International Arbitration Society and interned at the World Bank.

Mel Schwing Vice- President

Mel is a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge, researching the rule of law in international arbitration. He is a frequent conference speaker on international arbitration and has published articles on international arbitration in academic journals and bar association publications.

Before coming to Cambridge, Mel earned a JD from Stanford University and an LLM from the University of Melbourne.

Alina Papanastasiou Junior Treasurer

Alina is a PhD candidate in public international law and international dispute settlement. She holds an LLM in international law with distinction from the University of Cambridge, an LLB (First Class Honours) from the University of Athens and a Minor in Finance from the American College of Greece. She has also studied international business at Harvard University, international commercial litigation and arbitration at the London School of Economics (LSE), and attended the International Academy for Arbitration Law in Paris.

Tim Fischer –Secretary and Committee Chair for Lectures and Seminars

Tim is an LLM candidate at the University of Cambridge (St. John’s College). Prior to commencing his LLM, Tim worked as a research assistant in the litigation department of an international law firm in Munich.

Tim received a law degree with distinction from the University of Düsseldorf. During his studies, he participated in the Vis Moot Court

Maxence Rivoire Member

Maxence is a PhD Candidate at the University of Cambridge. Prior to starting his doctoral studies, Maxence completed a Magister Juris from the University of Oxford in 2017, and a Master’s degree in private international law and international commercial law from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University in 2015. Maxence originally graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor in law and in applied foreign languages (English and Italian) from the University of Grenoble, where he ranked first overall.

Maxence is admitted to practice, and has work experience in France, Canada, and England. Between 2018 and 2021, Maxence was an associate in the international arbitration team of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Paris.

Rana Hassan Committee Chair for Communications and Webmaster

Rana is an affiliated LLB student at the University of Cambridge. Before arriving in Cambridge, Rana graduated from the University of Toronto with high distinction majoring in Political Science and CCIT (Communication, Culture, Information Technology). She focuses on international commercial arbitration as well as complex cross-border litigation.

As a student, she is also an executive member for the Cambridge International Law Society, and College Ambassador for Cambridge TedX.
